M&M Brownies

Posted by Sweeter side of life at 10:28:00

Who can resist a good brownie?? This brownie is made with cocoa powder instead of cooking chocolate, so if you are on a tight budget ( i am) , try this recipe! The clean up work from brownies are a tad easier than other bakes since 2 bowls and a whisk and you are good to go :D

This brownie is fudgey and not cake like. If you prefer cake- like brownies then i am sorry ! This is not the one for you. The cocoa powder really tuned down the level of sweetness with a slight bitterness to it. If you are making for little children, be sure to add more of those mini M&Ms! You can play around the recipe and add mini marshmallows- it'll make the brownies sweeter :D

Recipe that makes 8"x 8" square pan - 16 pieces
*Preheat oven at 160C

1/2 Cup Canola oil
1/4 Cup Cocoa Powder
1/2 Cup Sugar ( Originally 1 Cup)
2 Eggs
1 Tsp Vanilla
3/4 Plain flour
1/8 Tsp salt
1/3 Cup of Bittersweet couverteur chocolate
1/3 Cup Mini M&Ms

Measure oil into smaller bowl, whisk in cocoa powder.

In another larger bowl, beat sugar and eggs together, stir in vanilla and cocoa mixture*

Sift in flour with salt and mix till JUST combine. (Over mixing will cause over development of gluten structure, making your brownies hard)

Fold in chocolate and M&Ms, reserving some as toppings

Top batter with toppings

Bake for about 30 minutes or till tooth pick inserted in comes out clean or with a LITTLE bit of crumbs is fine.

Cool completely before cutting

(By the way, sugar increases tenderness)

I'm so glad I have just baked a brownie. Have already eaten a few pieces. Otherwise I would be suffering looking at this :P

although i might find it difficult to part with my m&ms (they're a favorite snack), these brownies would make it worth the sacrifice. :)

Hi Grace

Yeah! They gave a nice texture to the brownies too! Btw i used baking mini M&Ms so they aren't so sweet? You could add other candies that you have on hand. Malteasers might work :D
